Knox County, Tennessee - A sheriff's deputy has been fired after photos show his choking a university student Saturday night.
Frank Phillips, 47, was been found 'unsuitable for continued employment,' according to a termination notice posted Sunday night on the Knox County Sheriff's Office's website.
Although the website is currently down, the Knox County Sheriff's Office Facebook reveals the termination letter along with the same information:
Sheriff Jimmy “J.J.” Jones tonight fired an officer who was photographed using excessive force on a man during an incident involving University of Tennessee students at a party Saturday night. Officer Frank Phillips, 47, has been with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office since 1992.
'In my 34 years of law enforcement experience, excessive force has never been tolerated. After an investigation by the Office of Professional Standards, I believe excessive force was used in this incident,' Sheriff Jimmy 'J.J.' Jones said.
'Therefore, Officer Phillips' employment with the Knox County Sheriff's Office is terminated immediately.'
An article at the DailyMail reveals the photographs of the victim, Jarod Dotson, being choked into unconsciousness.
