Big Pharma Sells Out Medical Science

In the wake of publishing this seed yesterday - Antidepressants Are Just Fancy Placebos - I found it coincidental I would stumble onto this article and interview where Dr. Beatrice Golomb (MD, PhD) shares how the drug industry willfully distorts and manipulates the scientific method.

Dr. Golomb is one of those rare commodities. She has earned an MD and a PhD and, is an associate professor of medicine, and associate professor of family and preventive medicine at the University of California at San Diego. But she is a rare commodity because she has integrity, and has not sold out to the drug companies while most other researchers have.

"I was initially perplexed by the disparities I saw between the published evidence, review papers, guidelines, and follow-up papers after trials were published," she explains, when asked how she became interested in the topic of Big Pharma distorting scientific evidence.

Anyone even remotely suspicious of pharmaceutical companies, I think will appreciate this interview/article.

It's the same old story, Digits (cool moniker by the way). Corporations using every tactic they can think of to sell their products and rake in the profits. Big Pharma doesn't care about people. They would supply us with poison if they thought we'd buy it.

And the GOP wants more deregulation. Who's side are they on?

Thanks for this seed. The only way to combat this deception is to get the word out to the public.

Thanks. ;)

They do supply poison and people do buy it. :)

I have seen great arguments regarding why to NOT use chemotherapy when faced w/ cancer. Vitamin C megadosing, for example, is one therapy I've seen discussed in the face of cancer. I've seen others. But then mainstream folks, shills, bought and paid for TV ads, the family doctor, family members or peers pish posh this as 'new age' or 'flaky' stuff and I think that people who want to open up a dialogue to share news of other therapies quietly sink away.

It's hard business getting a certain mindset open.

The only way to combat this deception is to get the word out to the public.

Yes. I agree.

Funny, but Gozo seeded this exact article, and I commented there. Don't know why my tracker didn't pick this up, but thanks to RV I was made aware of it!

I've known for years that research data has been manipulated by both Big Pharma and our own government. Money is always more important than life... especially "little" lives of no consequence, like 99% of the entire population. We have only ourselves to do the homework necessary to weed out the facts and hopefully make choices that are right or us. There are few in the profession (pharmaceutical and medical) who can be trusted 100% with the decisions we need based on individual requirements and not some "model" that may or may not reflect a particular person's genetic or health profile. There seem to be very little wheat in all that chaff.

My tracker's been aggravating lately, too.

Indeed.

I keep thanking god for the internet. Information can be made so much more available than ever before. Today we have a choice: We can believe what pharmaceutical companies [or government for that matter] say, blindly. OR. We can do our own research [as best we can], ask friends, ask for other opinions on the fly, share our own experiences...

Thanks, Digits. I don't feel awful... have to behave so that I can survive surgery! :-) It really helps to be home during the wait for the surgery.

And the GOP wants more deregulation. Who's side are they on?

I know that the propoganda machine wants us to believe that regulations help us. Regulations also harm us by keeping valuable information pushed down. Regulation also keeps the free market from being free. The Pharmacuticle industry does not want you to start growing herbs in your back yard that work as good or better than their drugs. They pay off politicians to make regulations against their competition and this is plain wrong of our Representatives and the truth about this stuff has to meet the public eye. It makes everything cost more.

We watch too much TV and the networks have the best of the best working to keep your conciseness from thinking for yourself in matters of health.

seems France has no problem with regulation and keeping drugs safer than we do. their medicine also more advanced than ours.

and if you could list me some of those herbs grown in your back yard that are better for you ? that you can take and be sure won't interact in a harmful way with your other medicines or natural herbs ?

I wouldn't mind growing my own heart/lung medication calcium channel blockers . save money.

I encourage you to start doing key word searches:

natural remedies and cures for heart/lung

natural calcium channel blockers

I also wish to caution you against coming off your heart meds without understanding how that might affect you. Comming off some medicines can kill you you want to make sure you are not on a drug that will kill you if you stop taking it. Go see a Naturepath or a Chiropractor and talk to them about your condition if you are serious about growing your own herbs. There are many meds that you cannot safely get off of unless you get the right kind of advice. There are some heart meds you cannot come off of at all. It is best if you research the meds first before you start taking them and also see if there is a herb that can be used instead of the med.

Doctors tend to be much more cautious with patients that are informed and ask lots of questions. If you tell them first that you do not want to take a med that you cannot come off of they will look more deeply into what options you may have. Don't blindly do anything just because a doctor tells you to it is your body and you do have a right to ask questions and refuse any treatment that you have doubts about. Beware: Doctors sales pitches often include fear tactics.

They already do supply us with poison death is a side effect of many of their concoctions. The FDA allows our foods to be poisoned with aspartame, splenda, and high fructose corn syrup these are poisons!!!.Corn is one of the most common known allergens and it is being put into so many things the only way to guarentee you won't get any is to grow all your own food. They do not even have to list aspartame any more. It is getting harder and harder to find food that doesn't have one or the other and in some cases even both. Chewing piece of gum is no longer a harmless activity you take your life in your hands. Please believe me. I know with all the feel good commercials on the TV about these foods sending subliminal messages directly iin to our sub conscience minds makes it difficult to believe it. Turn off the TV nobody is strong enough in their mind to over come these subliminal messages. I myself have known this for a long time and have caught myself putting something into my grocery cart that I would not normally buy just from going to my moms home while she had the TV on and viewing one of these ads.

It looks to me like they are prepatrating a slow killing of the masses. Scientist and doctors who speak out and try to imform the public do so at great peril and risk. Many have been killed. I think Dr Mercola and others like him are very brave.

"Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence and fulfills the duty to express the results of his thoughts in clear form." ~ Albert Einstein
