FAIR HAVEN, Vt.—After an internal review, Fair Haven Police Chief William Humphries says he is satisfied with officers' decision to use a Taser to subdue a man who was charged with disorderly conduct and assaulting a police officer during a medical call.
Police say they were responding to a call to assist James K. Delfenthal, 46, who was suffering from an asthma attack on Aug. 2 when he became uncooperative.
Authorities say a Fair Haven Police officer injured his hand and an emergency technician sprained his knee trying to restrain Delfenthal, who police say was drunk.
But Delfenthal does not think his actions warranted multiple jolts from a Taser.
He is seeking a lawyer for a possible civil suit against the town.
I especially wanted TaserWatch friends to see this one. Humor me...it's still my birthday in California. :-)
That's right! Have my TaserWatch friends wished me a happy birthday yet? Hurry! There is still time! Hehe.
I still do not know if the emails of "Send email notifications to group members" include a link or not. Do they?
At 1:54 am PST, about all my brain is good for is:(((( Happy Birthday Digits ))))
I hope that will work ok considering....
hope you had a wonderful birthday !
Haha! Thanks Tedd. Yes it was a really good Birthday. I was half asleep when I was seeding and starting discussions [Like the 3 yr old who doesn't WANNA go to bed!]
I figured it must have been a good one since you still have several Birthday emails waiting for you :-)
Ok, first off, I'm glad he survived. I was worried that this was going to be another death by taser.
Second, I wish him well in his suit, but I don't think this case is clear cut enough for him to win, although he may be offered a settlement of some sort. If he is I recommend that he take it.
