Fiji's Daily Post newspaper has criticised police for interrogating one of its journalists over his coverage of a high-profile case of alleged police brutality.
Post reporter Isaac Lal spent six hours answering police questions about his story on a prison escapee who suffered severe injuries when recaptured.
Daily Post editor Mesake Koroi told Radio Australia's Pacific Beat program he's very concerned by the police action.
"Why do they need to investigate this? If it's a simple case of misquoting or misreporting then there are certain issues and procedures to be followed," he said.
"If it really goes badly, then there is civil litigation, rather than a crime case. That's the thing that baffles me."

I was questioned by the police on coverage of a story. It baffled me too. Of course, it baffled me because I was thinking the entire time that this bubba must have no idea about the Constitution he is supposed to help uphold. I will not agree, next time, to answer his questions. He will have to trump up a charge in order to arrest me.
And who says we don't have a universal Police Force? See Dij. Doesn't matter what country. The coppers will get you anyway. Fiji is one of the most beautiful parts of the world. I have many friends from there. Damn shame that this happens though. But, alas I am also not surprised.
hehehe. Bubba. Why does that word always make me giggle like a school kid. bubba hehehehe. You Americans are so funny.
